Two incredible techniques that can help bring abundance into you life.
When it comes to work, raising a family and running a household, it’s so easy to become overwhelmed. I know from my own experience I sometimes feel like there isn’t enough time in the day to do all the things that I want to get done. Many days I feel like I’m completely floundering.
Thankfully, I recently met Lisa Garr and heard her speak at the “Women with a Purpose Conference”. After her inspiring presentation, I got my hands on her book “Becoming Aware - How to Repattern Your Brain and Revitalize Your Life”. Reading the book I learned the ways in which I get stuck in negative patterns. “Becoming Aware” offered me practical and fun ways to derail the negative train.
And it is simply through visualization.
According to Lisa Garr, “Visualization builds neural networks in your brain that form bundles of neurons that act as a memory. The more that you do this (visualization) process, these bundles get more and more developed. According to latest discoveries in neuroscience this is how a habit is formed.” Lisa also goes on to tell us something that blew my mind. As unbeleivable as it sounds, when you do the processes of visualization, the brain acts as if the event you are visualizing has already happened.
Visualizing consistently ends up naturally gravitating you toward doing the actions today that will fulfill the future memory you are creating. It’s an effortless and efficient way to disrupt the negative patterns that can take over and build the life you want to live - one vision at a time.
I downloaded Lisa's companion CD “Guided Meditations for Becoming Aware”, (part of Lisa's "Rainbow Daily Meditation Pack) and use track 4 to be guided through these three points:
I truly believe we are all put on this planet because we each have a very special gift we are meant to share. We can all make a difference and help people with this special gift. What is yours?
Why not picture yourself using your special gifts to help both people and our fragile planet, while simultaneously experiencing life’s abundance for yourself?
For me, the guided visualization made one thing very clear: I want to raise my kids to be resilient, independent, healthy, creative, happy, loyal, and generous members of society. So I have been visualizing my kids possessing all these qualities and succeeding in life.
It’s fair to say developing these qualities also requires loving care and attention on the part of the entire family, as well as commitments towards our financial goals. After my visualization practices helped me become crystal clear on exactly what I wanted in my life, I added one additional exercise to my daily routine that has exponentially grown my efficiency as both a mother and a businesswoman.
This exercise, paired with my guided meditation, helps further the gravitational pull of abundance towards me. After many years on pause from work, and choosing to be a stay at home mom, reintroducing my professional life to my daily routine is something I’m interested in focusing on. I’d like to draw into my working life the financial flow that makes investment in my kids’ future possible, so, I do this special exercise every night before I go to sleep: I write a check out to myself!
You have probably heard about this exercise before. I'm sure you have even already tried it. But, I encourage you to try it again, because I have a little twist to offer you. And the twist has to do with consistency. Don't just write one check. Write many.
I designed a check template, which features three checks per page, and each check looks similar to a real check. Each day I “give” myself an additional $1000 to spend.
So, on day one I wrote myself a check for $1000.00 to spend, on day two I gave myself $2000.00 to spend, and so on and so forth.
This creative and fun exercise of simply writing a check made out to yourself, visualizing what you would spend that money on, and feeling the joy and gratitude of that experience is, in fact, surprisingly powerful.
Try this exercise before you go to bed. If you keep the checks under your pillow, they will serve as a reminder to dream big before you head to sleep. Write yourself a check at night and then you start off your morning aware of what you want to attract into your day. This is an perfectly efficient exercise for busy people. Building image boards that require searching for pictures that speak to you, then cutting and pasting these images into scrap books or vision boards can be creative fun, but also time consuming. If your time is limited, just write a check! Yes, there are a few apps out there that allow you to write checks to yourself digitally, but I think the act of putting pen to paper is more personal and powerful.
You are welcome to sign up to be on our email list, if you wish, and I will happily share with you a free check design template you can personalize. Look out for the link to download the check template at the bottom of my "Welcome" email after you sign up.
I hope these exercises help you as much as they have helped me in becoming clear about life goals and creating abundance .
As my friend Suzy so eloquently stated when I shared this article with her. “If you don’t put your destination into the GPS, you will end up nowhere.” Visualization and writing checks to yourself are two great ways to clarify your life destination. When performed consistently together, these exercises are sure to propel your life to the next level.
